When people hear "faux leather," they sometimes assume it means a compromise — on look, on feel, on quality. We'd push back on that.

We chose faux leather for Clipello bags because it lets us do a few things well. It's cruelty-free, so you get the look and structure of leather without an animal product involved. It's also more consistent — unlike natural hides, which vary piece to piece, faux leather gives us the same texture, colour, and finish across every single bag we make, so what you see in a photo is exactly what shows up at your door.

It's also easier to live with. Faux leather tends to be more resistant to water and stains than natural leather, and it doesn't require the same specialised conditioning and care — which matters when a bag is meant to be used, not babied.

None of that means we cut corners on how it feels. We work closely with our manufacturing partner to select faux leather with real texture and structure — not the stiff, plasticky version you might picture. The goal was never "leather, but cheaper." It was building a bag that looks and performs the way you'd want, made a little more thoughtfully.

That's the trade-off we're comfortable making — and one we think you'll feel good about too.
